BIOGRAPHY
Zita Ujhelyi-Sebestyén, born in 12.05.1984 in Budapest, Hungary. Before the The Hungarian regime change, specifically refers to the political transition in Hungary around 1989-1990, marking the end of the socialist regime that influenced her life and work.
She is currently based in Luzern, Switzerland. As a performance-based multidisciplinary artist, she works across painting, installation, drawing, collage, and photography, employing cyanotype as an alternative photographic medium. Ujhelyi-Sebestyén is best known for her cyanotypes and flower paintings, which have become a hallmark of her innovative approach to exploring the boundaries of traditional and experimental art forms.
Her work frequently engages with themes of nature, portraiture, and pressing socio-political issues such as motherhood, women’s roles in society, and human rights. Ujhelyi-Sebestyén’s art is characterized by its introspective and thought-provoking nature, often weaving personal and political narratives into cohesive visual experiences.
